Lochaven originated in 1992 when Stuart and Sussanne Pyers purchased a block of land on which we built a farm shed. The shed with corrugated iron cladding , concrete floors and unpainted plaster was converted into a home in which we lived for 8 years.

        The “shed” as it was known then, was built from second hand materials:

• Front Door from Ararat Psychiatric Hospital
• Internal doors from a demolished farm house in Wallaura
• Windows were recycled from local houses
• Original kitchen was from Port Fairy Hospital
• All flooring is from the old Portland High School Gymnasium
• The Bathroom is an old hospital isolation room (TB), which in more recent times became a play room for some Rosebrook children. It was transported behind our van on a trailer along Princes Hwy.
• Red Bricks are from Portland high school
• The garage is an old farm shed which has been lowered and reclad
• The concrete floor was mixed by hand

In 2001 we moved, then the renovations begun.

Lochaven now boasts spectacular interior and furnishings providing the best in comfort, relaxation and state of the art appliances.

You  will experience a peaceful time at Lochaven whilst the children play on the expansive lawn areas, involve themselves in card and board games and totem tennis (which are all provided).
